Growing up and going out into the world can be intimidating and exciting.
And I’m going to be brutally honest with you through the words of William Goldman in The Princess Bride, “Life is pain, highness. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something.” And to a degree, he’s right. Life can be really, really difficult and painful at times; the key word here being times. Those times don’t last forever even if it may seem like it. Life also holds many wonders and much joy. Even on my worst days, I can look back now and see how there was something good in that day; I was just too blind then to see it.
Growing up has its ups and downs, but they are what help us mature into wiser and better people. There are many lessons we need to mature and skills we need to live. In today’s age, it seems some, if not a lot, of those lessons and skills we missed out on, for one reason or another.
Here on Get Up ‘n Get Out you’ll find a collection of resources I’ve put together to help make your life a little less difficult and painful and also some real life testimonies from myself and/or my friends to help encourage you on your journey.
The Get Up ‘n Get Out blog/site is here for two reasons (1) to help young people get up on their feet by providing practical resources for learning life skills to get out into the world, and (2) to encourage people in their walk through life and walk with Christ. It’s hard to move if you can’t “get up”, so in the Get Up section, you’ll find posts and pages on life skills to help you stand on your own. Once you are up, its a lot easier to go, so in the Get Out section, you’ll find more posts and pages on getting out into the world.
It is my sincere hope that this blog/site will be of help and encouragement to you.
Darby
P.S. You don’t have to be a Christian to learn practical skills and learn lessons from people who have “been there”.
